On homotopy and cellular approaches to shape modeling

Abstract: The existing shape modeling usually starts from geometric properties of curves and surfaces. As for the topological level of shape modeling, limited researches in CAD have been conducted. In papers [1-9] the importance of homotopy and cellular topological approaches was emphasized. In this paper we suggest a summary of basic ideas, considered in papers [1-9], and develop these ideas.
