Abstract:
A stand was created for laser cooling and trapping of calcium atoms in a magneto-optical trap (MOT). MOT was obtained from calcium-40 atoms and its parameters were optimized. A narrow fluorescence resonance of an atomic calcium beam was observed. The frequency and width of the resonance at the $4s3d ^1D_2 – 4s5p ^1P_1$ calcium-40 transition were measured by increasing the resonance fluorescence intensity in the MOT.
