Abstract: This article presents a mathematical model for describing a random field using the method of non-canonical representation of random processes. On the basis of the given mathematical model, a universal methodology for modelling random fields is developed and the necessary information about their characteristics is given. The particularity of this paper lies in the fact that a simple and universal algorithm for modelling random fields has been designed, which can be easily implemented in electronic-computing machines. The initial data necessary for obtaining a random implementation of the terrain microrelief are determined. Using the developed methodology, random realisations of terrain microrelief in the form of a height map were obtained.
