Abstract: Modern artificial intelligence (AI) systems based on the von Neumann architecture have a number of fundamental limitations compared to the brain. In the paper, we partially revealed these limitations, proposed the principle of classification of AI neuromorphic systems and presented a comparative analysis of popular neuromorphic projects in the context of the proposed classification.

Keywords: Artificial intelligence, neuromorphic systems, local learning, spiking neural networks, sparse computing, in-memory computing, analog computing.
