Abstract: This research paper focuses on the use of expert systems (ES) for data mining (DM) in applications of information and telecommunication technologies. It presents an overview of ES and of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic theory, as well as an example of a DM procedure — factor analysis, which results were used to form the rules for ES FuzzyCLIPS to provide automated logical inference for commercial data center (DM) cost-effectiveness studies.

Keywords: Data mining, expert systems, fuzzy sets, fuzzy logic, factor analysis, FuzzyCLIPS, decision-making support, information and telecommunication technologies, data warehouses, data centers.
