Magnetic properties of $\gamma$-iron oxide nanoparticles in a mesoporous silica matrix

Abstract: Magnetic γ-Fe2O3/SiO2 nanocomposites are synthesized by impregnating mesoporous silica with a hexane solution of γ-iron oxide nanoparticles. Materials with various structural and magnetic properties can be obtained using a subsequent thermal treatment of the synthesized samples (annealing for three hours in an air flow).
