Femtosecond nanostructuring of silicon surfaces

Abstract: Nanostructures were formed upon the irradiation of single-crystal silicon surfaces with femtosecond laser pulses. These nanostructures were detected using scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and a photoluminescence technique.
