Atomic structure of the Cu(410)-O surface: STM visualization of oxygen and copper atoms

Abstract: The structure of the Cu(410)-O surface is studied by a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) with atomic resolution. Tunneling is accomplished for various states of the tungsten STM probe, which allows oxygen and copper atoms to be visualized separately.
