Abstract:
Boundary conditions for the equations of the theory of elasticity modified by the presence of the flexoelectric effect have been obtained. It has been shown that these conditions do not generally coincide with the boundary conditions of the standard theory of elasticity. In particular, stresses that are proportional to the product of the polarization and surface curvature appear on the surface. Due to the boundary conditions, the uniform polarization deforms the crystal, although this polarization does not enter into the three-dimensional equations of equilibrium.
