Abstract:
The magnetic phase diagram of copper nitrate monohydrate Cu(NO3)2 · H2O and the basic parameters of its magnetic subsystem have been determined by measuring the thermodynamic properties of this compound. This compound becomes antiferromagnetically ordered at TN = 3.6 K, undergoes the spin-flop and spin-flip transitions at HC1 ~ 0.06 T and HC2 ~ 1.1 T, respectively, at low temperatures. The magnetization of Cu(NO3)2 · H2O at TSR = 2.7 K exhibits an additional anomaly, which is likely attributed to the spin-reorientation transition.
