Abstract: Differential cross sections for $^{13}\mathrm{C}(\alpha, \alpha')$ inelastic scattering at $E(\alpha)=65$ and $90$ MeV with the excitation of the $9.90$-MeV state in the $^{13}\mathrm{C}$ nucleus have been studied. The analysis within the modified diffraction model has shown that the rms radius of the nucleus in this state can be approximately $20\%$ smaller than its radius in the ground state.
