On the extreme luminosity of hot spots in Z-pinches

A simple universal upper estimate has been proposed for the intensity of X rays from hot spots in pinches, which is similar to the Eddington limit of luminosity of stars. The closeness of the experimental results at various setups to the theoretical limit has been discussed.
