Abstract: It has been shown that two electrons situated in a quantum well near a metallic electrode attract each other owing to the Bychkov–Rashba spin-orbit interaction (SOI) and by electrostatic image forces. It has been shown within a simple model that the SOI-induced effective attraction is stronger than the Coulomb repulsion and the formation of a bielectron becomes possible at quite accessible values of the characteristic parameters of the system.
