Abstract: The effect of a weak magnetic field on stress relaxation in NaCl crystals after the termination of active deformation has been experimentally studied for the first time. The results indicate that stress relaxation is accompanied by the magnetoplastic effect in the form of an increase in the relaxation depth and significant softening, sensitive to the active deformation rate. These effects are strongly enhanced when a magnetic field is combined with a weak electric one.
