Abstract: The basic principles of a new technology of non-catalytic oxidative reforming of hydrocarbon gases into syngas and hydrogen, based on the combustion of rich hydrocarbon-air or hydrocarbon-oxygen mixtures stabilized by the surface of a permeable matrix, are presented. The kinetics of the process, the prospects for its technological implementation and the most interesting applications are discussed.

Keywords: natural gas, oxidative reforming, matrix combustion, syngas, hydrogen, gas chemistry.
