Abstract: A technology for millimetric moisture-content measurement has been proposed for implementation in plant breeding by the method of background traits, which requires selecting plants with medium or low moisture. This technology, which is based on radiophysical methods, allows nondestructive lifetime measurements to be made over short and long periods of time, up to continuous ones. Preliminary measurements of the green onion moisture have shown that the moisture measurement error does not exceed 1%.

Keywords: moisture, plant breeding, background characteristics method, millimeter wave.
