Abstract:
The motion of electrons in a giant fullerene due to the geometric potential has been investigated in the one-electron approximation. It is shown that the geometric potential due to the bending excitation of curvature causes an additional normal surface force, which affects the mechanism of small-surface oscillations of the giant fullerene. Taking into account the geometric potential for giant fullerenes leads to a decrease or complete compensation of the effect of free transverse (radial) oscillations of the spherical layer.
