Abstract: The paper investigates destruction of homogeneous targets with various physico-mechanical characteristics as a result of their interaction with high-strength steel projectiles. Experiments have been conducted, and the results obtained have been compared with equiva-lent targets. The comparison of targets was based on their weight equivalence (the weights of the measured target areas were made equivalent to eliminate the differences of the material thickness). The initial velocity of the interaction ranged from 50 to 800 m/s. To register movements of the projectiles after their perforating the target, a two-point X-ray flash photog-raphy was used. The X-ray photographs demonstrated dependence of after-perforation veloci-ty values on the initial impact velocities. The study concludes with analyzing the features of target destruction and resistance. The results of the experiments were illustrated on perforation diagrams.
