Short thermionic-cathode discharge in alkaline-earth metal vapor

Abstract: A short (without a positive column) Knudsen thermionic discharge initiated in barium and strontium vapor has been investigated. It has been shown that the behavior of these discharges and their formation mechanism, effective heating of the plasma electrons by a cathode electron beam, are, in general, similar to the discharge in cesium.
