Abstract: The self-healing effect has been found in a study of the microstructure of the bands of localized deformation. It has been shown that interstitial elements (O, C) and the particles of a doping phase migrate to the zone of growing spallation damageability from the matrix material. When considering the wave pattern of the process of localization, it has been ascertained that the formation of bands of localized deformation is accompanied by the process of reverberation which is characterized by the formation of periodically repeated compression–extension cycles. A weak attenuation of the reverberation has led to an increase in the duration of the deformation pulse of the sample by two to three orders of magnitude compared with the time of the initial compression pulse.
