Mesoscopic defects in the two-phase $\alpha+\gamma$ state of Fe–32 at % Ni alloy

Abstract: An extreme discrepancy in the observed martensite structure when studying by means of optical and scanning microscopes in the same sample has been found. The results have been compared with data from the literature. An assumption on the effect of sample heating on the process of transformation of elastic spreads of fragments in the peripheral region of martensitic laminae into plastic spreads has been put forward.
