Abstract: A set of nonlinear differential equations that describe the dynamics of atomic–molecular conversion under the action of two arbitrarily shaped Raman pulses of resonance laser radiation has been derived in the mean-field approximation. The dynamics of the system subjected to Gaussian pulses has been studied in detail. It has been shown that the time evolution of the system depends on the initial conditions.
