Abstract: The paper presents the results of experimental studies on a split Hopkinson rod to determine the mechanical properties of SG-P 0.5P grade silicified graphite used in friction units under shock loading. It is established that dynamic indicators of strength and fracture are more than two to four times higher than similar characteristics obtained under quasi-static loading.

Keywords: split Hopkinson rod, silicified graphite, brazilian test.
