Bandpass filters based on SIW and ESIW technologies

Abstract: High-performance microwave filters manufactured using two different technologies-Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) and Empty Substrate Integrated Waveguide (ESIW)-have been investigated and compared. Two filters with a center frequency of 12 GHz were designed and synthesized using SIW and ESIW technologies, respectively, and a comparative analysis was conducted. The results of the comparison between the amplitude-frequency characteristics of the filters, obtained both through electromagnetic simulation in a computer-aided design environment and from fabricated prototypes, are presented.
