Analysis of the effect of discharge parameters on the shock wave propagation from the discharge chamber channel

Abstract: The propagation of a shock wave formed during the breakdown in the discharge chamber is studied experimentally and theoretically. The contactless optical schlieren visualization (shadow) method is used for the flow diagnostics. The dependences of spatiotemporal characteristics of shock wave propagation from the discharge chamber channel on the discharge energy are obtained experimentally. The exit velocity of the shock wave from the discharge channel and the energy spent and imparted to the shock wave are estimated analytically.
