Abstract: The effect of samarium on the microstructure and the parameters of martensitic and magnetic transformations in Fe–Ni alloys is studied, and the alloys with 0.5–2 u.% Sm are found to exhibit a martensitic transformation in the as-cast state. The temperatures of the onset of the direct and reverse martensitic transformations increase with the samarium content as compared to the corresponding binary alloys. Moreover, samarium substantially increases the Curie temperature and significantly decreases the grain size in the alloys.
