Abstract: It is found experimentally that as the corona current grows, its radial distribution over the anode narrows and the spot size at the anode decreases. The current-voltage characteristic of a negative corona in argon is approximated by a parabolic function with regard to the experimentally found narrowing of the current cross section on the anode with increasing corona current.
