Abstract: Mathematical models constructed for plane symmetric microwave antennas with a linearly expanding aperture make it possible to calculate the directional patterns depending on the aperture configuration. The directional patterns for analogous antennas operating in the range 5.9–12.5 GHz are measured experimentally; good agreement between the theoretical and experimental results is observed. The regularities in the influence of the aperture configuration of the antennas under investigation on the shape of the principal lobe of their directional patterns are established; these regularities are used for designing disk antenna arrays of circular and sector scan on their basis.
