Abstract: We report on the results of experimental studies of optical inhomogeneities appearing in the working medium of an iodine photodissociation laser operating in the inversion accumulation mode and in the free-running mode. The dynamics of evolution of optical inhomogeneities in the free-running mode is studied experimentally.
