Abstract:
The capabilities of a number of agent-based modelling frameworks (SWARM, RePast-J, NetLogo, etc) were studied. The model-building process and models’ performance were studied in NetLogo framework. Due to the insufficient performance of NetLogo we experimented with implementation of agent-based models in Oracle relational database. The Oracle-based models had higher performance than the NetLogo-based ones only when NetLogo had no optimization for the given model type. The test epidemiological model in Oracle had higher performance by a factor of $10^{0.5}$–$10^3$ depending on the population structure. The Oracle-based approach was tested in applied epidemiological modelling.
