Abstract: We propose a new approach to composition of mathematical models of biological systems, based on their reduction. This approach has been tested on the example of two apoptosis models describing pro- and anti-apoptotic (activation of NF-$\kappa$B) pathways of CD95.

Key words: mathematical modeling, model reduction, CD95-induced apoptosis, transcription factor NF-$\kappa$B, BioUML.
