Unusual N,Se-heterocycles with cyclic Se–N+ bond of isoselenazolopurinium type

Abstract: Treatment of 8-alkynylcaffeine or -adenine derivatives with in situ generated SeBr4 caused their annulation with the formation of isoselenazolium ring. The salts obtained are regarded as glutathione peroxidase mimetics.
