Magnetic properties of a linear dioxonickelate(II) ion imbedded in apatite-type strontium and barium phosphates

Abstract: Strontium and barium hydroxyapatite phosphates doped with nickel oxide were prepared by a high-temperature solid state synthesis. The compounds contain a linear dioxonickelate(II) anion, which reveals strong easy-plain magnetic anisotropy with a zero-field splitting energy of 57cm−1.
