Abstract: Two tetra-tert-butylphthalocyanine complexes of iron(III) were synthesized in high yields from the phthalocyanine ligand and iron(III) salts; the oxidation state of iron was confirmed by Mössbauer and EPR spectroscopy. The existence of an acid–base equilibrium during spectrophotometric titration was revealed. The t-BuPcFeCl complex catalyzed chlorination of benzene.
