Abstract: Comparative analysis of the structure and phase behavior of the synthesized compounds on the basis of symmetrically and asymmetrically substituted benzenesulfonic acids with bulky aromatic focal groups revealed that their phase behavior is determined equally by the shape of the mesogenic groups as well as by specific interactions at the focal points of the monodendrons.
