Electrochemical oxidation of furans into 2,5-dimethoxy-2,5-dihydrofurans

Abstract: Substituted 2,5-dimethoxy-2,5-dihydrofurans (cis/trans isomer mixtures) were obtained via the electrochemical oxidation of the corresponding furans in an undivided cell in methanol in the presence of bromides as mediators. The method is suitable for furans containing electron-donating groups.
