Abstract: The reaction of erbium(iii) carbonate with thenoyltrifluoroacetone in ethanol leads to the formation of hydrate hydroxonium tetrakis(thenoyltrifluoroacetonato)erbate(iii) (H₃O)⁺[Er(tta)₄]^– H₂O, whose molecular structure has been determined by X-ray analysis.
