Abstract: Redox reaction between alkali metal diselenophosphinates R2P(Se)SeM (M = Na, K) and elemental iodine in a 2:1 molar ratio (1,4-dioxane, room temperature, 2min) gives bis(diorganylselenophosphoryl)selenides [R2P(Se)]2Se and bis(diorganylselenophosphoryl) triselenides [R2P(Se)]2Se3 in 87–90% total yields.
