Abstract: The synthesis of 5-oxo[1,3]dithiolo[4,5-d][1,3,2]dithiazol-1-ium chloride 1a from easily available zink chelate, TEA[Zn(DMIT)2], has been developed; salt 1a has been converted to the first representative of [1,3]dithiolo[4,5-d]dithiazolyl radical, which was identified by EPR and CV data.

Keywords: 1,3,2-dithiazolyl radicals, synthesis, 1,3,2-dithiazolium salts, reduction, cyclic voltammetry, EPR spectroscopy.
