Abstract: 1,6,11,16,18,24,27,36-C₆₀(CF₃)₈ was synthesised by a reaction of C₆₀ with CF₃I at 420 °C followed by HPLC separation; its molecular structure contains eight CF₃ groups attached in a continuous para-para-para-meta-para-meta-para ribbon of seven edge-sharing C₆(CF₃)₂ hexagons on a C₆₀ cage.
