Abstract: The fluorinating ability of LnF₄ towards fullerene C₆₀ is shown to gradually increase in the series CeF₄ < TbF₄ < PrF₄; the latter compound, used for fluorination of fullerenes for the first time, exhibits remarkably strong fluorinating properties yielding hyperfluorinated species C₆₀F_{n > 60}, with n up to 100.
