Abstract: 1-Amino-3-(methylthio)propylphosphinic acid likewise methionine, is a substrate in α,γ-elimination and γ-substitution reactions catalysed by pyridoxal-5’-phosphate-dependent L-methionine-γ-lyase and is capable to induce the synthesis of this enzyme in Citrobacter intermedius cells as does L-methionine.
