Abstract: The title reaction affords slightly air- and light-sensitive [(PPh₃)₂ClRu(μ-Cl)₃Ru(PPh₃)₂(η1-P₄)], which belongs to a very rare family of soluble tetrahedro-tetraphosphorus complexes and represents the first ruthenium species of this type.
