Abstract: The intramolecular cyclization of triphenylphosphonium and pyridinium derivatives of N-3-oxoalkylchloroacetamides leads to 5,6-dihydropyridin-2(1H)-ones, 2-pyridones and (4-hydroxy-2-oxopiperid-3-yl)pyridinium chlorides.
