Abstract: The telomerization of 1,3-dienes with the wide range of the nucleophiles is a versatile tool for the synthesis of alcohols, amines, acids, unsaturated esters and other compounds being valuable natural-type products from abundant petrochemical base materials. Being a 100% atom-efficient process, telomerization is very promising for the industrial application, particularly in case of isoprene which is produced in the large scale all over the world and in particular in Russia. This review presents the developments in the field of isoprene telomerization over the years to discuss the variety of products, most efficient catalysts and ligands and the selectivity of the process.

Keywords: isoprene, telomerization, Pd-complex catalysis, Pd–NHC complex, selectivity, catalytic cycle, atom-efficient process.
