Abstract:
In the recent years, the synthesis of oxazoles via (2 + 2 + 1) gold-catalyzed oxygen-transfer reactions involving alkynes and nitriles has become a dynamic field of study. The practical utility of this straightforward diazo-free method has been illustrated through a number of publications,
among which are findings from our research group. This focus article aims to present a comprehensive critical analysis of the current progress made in the area, including advantages, limitations, and future prospects for the practical application.
