Abstract: The catalytic efficiency of electrodeposited copper catalysts in the electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction was investigated. The catalysts consisted of copper and graphite substrates with copper particles electrodeposited on the surface. The calculated Faradaic efficiency reached 29% at a potential of −1.6 V (vs. Ag/AgCl).

Keywords: synthesis of ammonia, nitrate reduction, electrocatalysis, sustainable chemistry, energy chemistry, Cu catalyst, deposited catalyst.
