Abstract:
The alkane elimination reactions between Ln(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2 (Ln = Sc, Y) and substituted diphenylamine, (2-Pri2PO-4-MeC6H3)2NH ([O,N,O]H), afford stable pincer bis(alkyl) complexes [O,N,O]Ln(CH2SiMe3)2 (Ln = Sc, Y), while (2-Pri2PS-4-MeC6H3)2NH was found to be inert. X-ray analysis revealed intramolecular coordination of both Pri2PO groups with Ln3+ ions in these complexes. The yttrium complex proved to be an efficient pre-catalyst for hydrophosphination of styrene and phenylacetylene, as well as for isoprene and rac-lactide polymerization.
