Abstract: The catalytic ignition temperatures of (60–90% D2 + 40–10% CH4)stoich–air mixtures over a palladium surface were determined under static conditions at pressures of 1–2 atm in the temperature range of 20–300 °C. The critical nature of the volumetric reaction was established: the volumetric process, accompanied by ignition and a sharp increase in pressure, occurs at 70% D2, but is absent at ³65% D2.

Keywords: catalytic combustion limits, deuterium, air, methane, low Mach number approximation, high-speed filming.
