Abstract:
Wide-range Hugoniots of two metals – Cu and Fe – were constructed with the help of simple
approximation of high precision. At small pressures $P\leq 5$ Mbars they describe numerous experimental points in the form $D(u)$ with accuracy $0.1\div 0.3\%$. At ultrahigh pressures $P=0.1\div 30$ Gbars they coincide with reliable theoretical data with accuracy better than 0.1%. At intermediate pressures $P=5\div 100$ Mbars they are prooved by rare experiments in underground nuclear explosions. So these curves (especially for Cu) are recommended as standards to treat experiments on another substances shock compression.
